Why is it when I take the top off of the airbox on my stock GSR, my car 'feels' slower?
This is not only when starting from a standstill (which will increase intake temps).
I know this is about as unscientific an approach, but I'll never trust a dyno presented by a company ever again.
And I am wondering if people feel they got their money's worth out of a $200 air induction 'system' (pipe)?
I understand the stock intakes have the resonator upstream from the airbox to quiet the engine under load, but could it have any performance benefits? I imagine it lowers the intake maniflod pressure since the engine is pulling harder to get air in from that restricted plumbing.
I know most of you think I am crazy for asking this, but do you -really- notice a difference over stock intake?
Maybe with a free flowing exhaust, a less restritive intake makes more sense.
